Brick cleaning
Brick cleaning refers to the process of cleaning mortar smears from a brick after they have been laid.
When bricks or other masonry are laid, you will almost certainly need to have the surfaces cleaned to remove excess mortar left on the brick face by the bricklayers. Whether you are a home owner or builder, selecting a brick cleaner is an important decision as it is a highly skilled process. If it is done incorrectly; if the wrong chemical treatments are used, significant damage can occur which can be very hard and costly to rectify.
At The Brick Fixer we take the time to work out the most effective way of cleaning your masonry work ensuring it will look its absolute best. Many cleaners will use one basic acid chemistry and high pressure but we know the damage that can be caused by adopting this ‘one fits all’ approach.
As part of our process we will test different chemical blends often favouring less aggressive chemical solutions that, while taking a little longer, will ensure that your masonry work will look immaculate. Our unique and primary chemical base is “Brick Friendly Acid 66” (BFA 66) and it is safe, clean and environmentally acceptable.
All our cleaners are Accredited Brick Cleaners by Think Brick, the trade association for the brick industry. This is the only industry standard of good practice in Australia.
